Free Minds and Interaxon Present Brain Awareness Week!

We are happy to announce that we are partnering up with Interaxon to celebrate Brain Awareness Week this coming week! In place of our usual meetings at 8pm at Traddies, we are going to have a joint event with Interaxon tomorrow at 7pm in SLH 102 (Stauffer Lecture Hall).  Dr. Larry Cahill from UC Irvine will be giving a talk on “Why Sex Matters to Brain Science.”  We encourage that you come out and bring friends too!

We also be tabling in front of Tommy Trojan on Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday of next week from 11-2pm. There will also be fun games, raffles, and illusions, so come stop by Tommy Trojan and check us out!

About freemindsusc2013

The purpose of this organization is to uncover important mental and emotional health issues affecting USC and the local community through filming and screening documentaries and other media, such as music videos and short films. During each meeting, a short film or documentary regarding an important mental health topic is screened, and members have the opportunity to discuss the issues presented. Following the discussion, members work together on a year-long project to plan and create a documentary that addresses critical issues in mental health affecting the college population. In doing so, we hope to alleviate some of the stigma associated with mental health and initiate important conversations that will promote a more open, considerate culture. Fundraising opportunities toward non-profit service organizations are offered at screenings. Meetings are from 7-8pm on Mondays in Traddies. Come check one out if you are interested!
